A tiny prayer when we are on the verge of change

Last year, I wrote out this little prayer, and I immediately began starting my days with it. Within a month, my life was unrecognizable, and not in a way I would have ever chosen. I’m not saying the prayer had anything to do with it, but the timing was pretty suspicious.

I usually write us love letters, but maybe what we all need tonight is a prayer, a connection to self and others, some humility, willingness, and release, maybe even a sacrament of unburdening and covenant of forgiveness to help us carry heavy hearts.

Maybe we also just need a change that we aren’t sure that we are ready for.

So here is a prayer for all of us:

Dear God (Universe/ Whatever/ Just something other than me),

Please bring every ache, grievance, resentment, and feeling of discomfort in my life up to the surface.

Please reveal to me all the information I have been unwilling to hear, see, understand, or accept.

Please show me every single thing in my life that is not working.

Every solution.
Every obstacle.
Every situation.
Every relationship.
Every worn out idea.
Every harmful impulse.
Every coping mechanism.
Every story that I tell myself.
Every method of communication.

Please show me all the ways in which I am ready for what comes next and remind me that I already have everything I need within me.

Thanks,
Me
